Development of a feature film requires a clear strategy for packaging, financing, and production. If you’re ready to move your project forward, join us for our eight-week Film Finance Intensive, taught by Joyce Mishaan and Matthew Morris, beginning Thursday, October 8.

You’ll work on your own project throughout the course, building practical materials and a strategy you can use in conversations with talent, production partners, and prospective investors.

What you’ll build:

  • Your film’s business foundation: entity structure, production banking, operating agreement, and a clean chain of title.

  • A financing strategy: a capital stack incorporating development funding, equity, debt, and incentives, along with the language to present it to investors.

  • A realistic casting plan: potential attachments informed by market value, budget, and sales considerations.

  • Professional pitch materials: a pitch deck, one-sheet, pro forma, and investor waterfall.

  • Two distinct pitches: a Creative Pitch and a Money Pitch, each tailored to its audience.

  • A plan for your project’s future: opportunities for IP expansion, representation, and lasting professional relationships.

  • Schedule and Format:

We meet live on Zoom Thursdays from 2:00–3:30 p.m. Eastern, October 8 through December 3. There is no session on Thanksgiving, November 26.

Each session combines teaching, time to work on your project, and live Q&A. Weekly lessons outline what to prepare beforehand and the action steps to complete afterward. Allow an additional 30 minutes in case a session runs over.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

October 8: Legal and Business Foundation

October 15: Script Readiness

October 22: Budgeting and Scheduling

October 29: Development Funding & the Capital Stack

November 5: Casting and Market Value

November 12: Packaging Materials

November 19: Pitching and Creative Financing

December 3: IP Expansion and Career Sustainability, including a live clinic on your package

Support Between Sessions:

You’ll also have group office hours with Matthew Morris at 2:00 p.m. Eastern on October 12, October 26, November 9, and November 23. Bring your questions, your numbers, and anything you’re working through.

Enrollment includes access to the course portal, our Film Finance Template Vault, and a cohort WhatsApp group where you can ask questions, share progress, and connect with other filmmakers. Additional templates and examples will be added throughout the course.
